The Specifics of the Subjective Well-being of Orphans and Children Left without Parental Care in Various Conditions of Upbringing (Institutional Conditions and Conditions of a Foster Family)

The article is based on the results of a master's study of the subjective well-being of orphaned children and children left without parental care in various conditions of upbringing (institutionalization and foster family). The study involved 153 teenagers from organizations for orphans and children left without parental care and 151 children raised in substitute families in Primorsky Krai. The aim is to identify the specifics of subjective well–being for two forms of orphaned children. In the course of the study, risk zones and resources were identified through the severity of subdomains of subjective well-being, satisfaction levels, as well as the presence of correlations. It has been shown that a higher level of resilience is typical for adolescents raised in foster care. At the same time, an unexpected result was obtained: a higher average value of subjective well-being in general among adolescents in organizations for orphaned children than under guardianship, which may be due to new legislatively fixed requirements for the organization of living conditions and education of pupils, mandatory preparation for independent life.
