Correction of emotional-volitional personality sphere of children with hyperkinetic disorder

Abstract

The article describes the author’s perspectives on significance of emotional-volitional sphere and methods of its correction in children with hyperkinetic disorder. Developing imagination is proposed as the best practice for emotional-volitional sphere correction. The goal of the research was to explore emotional-volitional sphere of children with hyperkinetic disorder for elaborating effective corrective program. It was supposed that on developing imagination may be corrected emotional-volitional disturbances of children with hyperkinetic disorder. Experimental group included 15 school-age children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder of any origin and undergoing corrective development course. Control group included 15 children with the same diagnosis not attending any corrective development course. The authors had elaborated 18-session program for half a year, which included tasks and exercises targeted at imagination and creativity development of primary school-age children. The program ultimate objective was correction and development of emotional-volitional sphere of children with hyperkinetic disorder. As a result of the program carried out, the level of attention distribution has increased, in-group relationships have improved, relationships with family have been tuned, constructive activity skills have been assumed, and anxiety level has lowered.
