Psychological Features of Professional Identity in Students

Abstract

The author raises the question of distinguishing between the two psychological phenomena: professional identity of a student and that of a specialist. The author argues that student's professional identity deserves a special investigation since it has its own psychological features that have been revealed by the author in a theoretic and experimental study in psychology students. According to their professional identity characteristics, the students were grouped into several types and a description of each type is provided in the article. Additionally the author addresses the problem of developing professional identity in students through specially organised trainings aimed at activating mechanisms of reflection and identification.
