Psychological Culture and Self-Regulation of Anxiety

Abstract

The article focuses on modeling anxiety states, from slight, situational to complex, stable states. It analyses the dynamics of such states which is influenced by the psychological characteristics of a person. Psychological culture is considered a psychological condition providing stability and security for one's psychosomatic system. The article describes the components of psychological culture that determine the ways of changing one's behavioural characteristics and conscious self-regulation of mental activity. Psychological culture was studied in students participating in special seminars and workshops; the results of the study show that it is psychological culture that enables one to resist destructive influences of environment and to find constructive methods of coping with anxiety.
