Abstract

The purpose of the research was to explore learning motivation in students of one of the pedagogical universities and to reveal the influence of inner and outer learning motivation on students' learning activity. The following techniques of assessing inner and outer motivation were used in the research: 'Assessing time intervals', 'Creating curriculum', 'Expert opinion and self-assessment of expressed inner and outer motivation'. According to the results obtained in the research, learning activity in innermotivated and outer motivated students was different. Inner-motivated students are more involved in the learning process: they are more active, scrupulous, and able to plan their own activity. They are more interested in the process and res ult of learning activity. Outermotivated students are less involved in the learning process and are often unable to organise their learning voluntarily. They are driven not so much by cognitive or professional motives, but by the ones exterior to the learning activity.
