British Hospitality — a Case from the History of Journalism during the First World War

Abstract

The trip of Imperial Russian journalists to Great Britain in 1916 (during the First World War) turned out to be a landmark in several senses at once. Firstly, according to the composition of the participants, the group included, for example, V.D. Nabokov, K.I. Chukovsky, V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, A.N. Tolstoy. Secondly, according to the historical context, in 1916 Russia and Great Britain were allies in the war, but only two years will pass, and the British expeditionary force will grapple with the troops of young Soviet Russia during the Intervention.
