Social Representations in Risk-Taking Adolescents

The paper analyzes the relationship between risk-taking behaviors and social representations in adolescents and describes how adolescents may be divided into groups according to the levels of their risk-taking. The study revealed significant correlations between high levels of risk-taking and low levels of conscientiousness, of orientation on social axioms (religiousness), low desire for orderliness of the world, and the absence of a belief in a just world. At the same time it was found that those adolescents who abstain from risk-taking have a greater need for orderliness of the world and are more oriented towards universal social rules.
