Relationship of the coping strategies of law enforcement officers with the style features of self-regulation
Abstract
The article deals with the problem of studying coping behavior of law enforcement officers. The problem of coping behavior is one of the most pressing in legal psychology in the research of the psychological characteristics of the individual activities and law enforcement officials. The effectiveness of professional activity is achieved not only due to professional knowledge and skills, but also is influenced by stress coping behavior of employees in stressful and special conditions. We examined coping behavior, its essence and basic components. We revealed the main directions in the study of coping strategies in law enforcement officers. The study involved 55 employees of the Russian Federal Drug Control Service in age from 20 to 47 years with various length of service in drug control authorities. The empirical research aimed at studying the features of coping strategies in law enforcement officers and revealing of the specifics of their relationship to the conscious self-regulation. We revealed that the definition of a stressful conditions is an informative tool for the prediction of coping strategies or coping behavior choice by law enforcement officials.
