The editorial board of the peer-reviewed scientific and practical journal “Autism and Developmental Disorders” invites authors to submit research and practice-oriented papers for the journal’s thematic issues scheduled for publication in 2025. These issues will focus on current topics related to research and innovative developments in supporting children and adults with autism or other developmental disorders.

Thematic Issues and Deadlines

Issue No. 1-2025: "Alternative and Augmentative Communication: Research and Practices". Thematic Editor: Tamara Isaeva, PhD in Education.

This issue will serve as a platform for discussing methods and tools of alternative and augmentative communication, innovative approaches to their development and application, and an analysis of their effectiveness in supporting individuals with developmental disorders.

Publication Date: March 30, 2025. Submission Deadline: Closed.

Issue No. 2-2025: "International Research and Experience in Supporting Children with ASD". Thematic Editors: Dr. Ed. Vera Khitryuk, Olga Svetlakova.

This issue will cover best international practices, research, and interdisciplinary approaches to supporting children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The journal welcomes articles on the following topics:

  • National education and training systems, as well as correctional and pedagogical assistance for children with ASD
  • Models of comprehensive assistance for children with ASD
  • Support for children with ASD and their families
  • Inclusive education for children with ASD
  • Socio-cultural integration of individuals with ASD
  • Evidence-based methods and techniques for working with children with ASD
  • other topics

Issue No. 3-2025: "Inclusive Education: Research and Best Practices". Thematic Editor: Svetlana Alekhina, PhD in Education.

This issue will explore the inclusion of children with ASD in an inclusive educational environment. It will examine modern approaches to creating adaptive learning conditions, effective teaching support strategies, and interdisciplinary methods of diagnosis and assistance. Special attention will be given to the roles of teachers, parents, and specialists in ensuring educational accessibility and developing individualized learning trajectories for children with ASD.

Issue No. 4-2025: "Family Resilience in Raising Children with Developmental Differences: Challenges, Resources, and Psychological Support". Thematic Editor: Dr. Psych. Irina Stoyanova.

This issue will focus on family resources in raising children with developmental differences, psychological resilience, and effective support programs, covering topics such as:

  • Psychological assistance programs for parents of children with autism
  • Parent-child relationships in families with children diagnosed with diabetes
  • Adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Parent-child relationships in families with children conceived via IVF
  • Disruptions in maternal attachment and self-harm in children
