Gender Differences in Communicative Behavior of Persons Receiving Critical Feedback

1920

Abstract

The paper describes the results of the research on gender differences in communicative behavior of individuals receiving critical feedback. The outcomes indicate that there are significant gender differences in such situations: subjects of masculine type display high levels of communicative control, emotional stability, are more inclined towards self-analysis basing on what they hear, and tend to dominate in communication; feminine subjects display lesser control of emotions, much more easily engage in communication with communicators, but do not seek domination. Androgyny determines a decrease in manifestations of gender characteristics typical for the subjects (communicative control in males; readiness to compromise in females) and promotes gendespecific features (high neurotism, extraversion in males).
