Typology of life-activity-related mindsets of personality

The article brings into focus the problem of definition of the “mindset” term. It is noted that subjective interpretation of the “mindset” term by the scientists does not reflect the essence of its content and is a fusion of several separate definitions. The author thinks that the “mindset” stands for world-view axioms and norms which are subjectively chosen by a person and taken as a basis of his/her life activity. Mindsets should be divided into types which will be composed of certain sorts and sub-sorts in order to establish a system classification of mindsets. The author suggests a typology of life-activity-related mindsets in relation to the person’s orientation (on oneself – personal mindset, on others – social mindset, on activity – activity mindset, on objects – object mindset). It is emphasized that the role and meaning of life-activity-related mindsets are defined by their functions. The article identifies the main functions of personal, social, activity and object live-activity-related mindsets.
