Modification of the plan of body motion in the learning process in solving the problem of finding the workaround by snails Achatina fulica

Abstract

The article describes the experimental investigation of the perception of their body of the Achatina fulica snails on the material of the research of their behavior in experimental device, designed in accordance with the methodical admission «Workaround». The results of the study demonstrate the ability of snails to solve the problem by modifying through learning the plan sweep of their own body, which is reflected in the reduction of the time of solving the problem and also in qualitative change in the way of behavior within the experimental setup. This fact can be explained by determinacy of self-reflection of snails by instinctive mechanisms that provide development of the capability for flexible adaptation to specific experimental conditions, that’s why the snails do not need to form the long-term maintenance skills. But the traces of generated learning store in memory of shellfish at least for 10 days, which is confirmed by the rapid formation of the same skill in a similar situation of repeated experimental series.
