Empirical study of sports personality

The article presents a systematic empirical study of identity (on the example of the athletes-swimmers), which is executed in the context of the proposed by B.G. Ananiev integrated approach to understanding the essence of individuality. In the course of our study, we determined the relationship between such parameters as individual human characteristics, characteristics of efficiency, qualities of personality and properties of the emotional-motivational sphere. Analysis of the results of testing of 70 subjects – swimmers of 17– 20 years – was carried out with the account of sports («master» – sport master of the international class and sport masters and «non-masters» – candidates for sport master and the fist digit sportsmen) and gender differentiation; therefore we analyzed data of the two groups of athletes with 35 persons in each (involved in swimming sport for 6.5 years in average), obtained as in the background, as well as in the conditions of training activities (complexity in the properties and state). As a result of the study, along with the «level», were also highlighted the structural characteristics of individuality. The integrity and indivisibility of individuality, from our point of view, is confirmed by direct and indirect linkages between separate subsystems of individuality.
