Two conflictory methodologies for psychotherapy and its efficiency research: seeking a way out

Through the distinction, based on the conceptual scheme of analysis of different approaches, developed by N. Alekseev and E. Judin, several models of psychotherapy perception are defined. These models form the basis of hermeneutic and positivistic approaches to psychotherapy research and assessment of psychotherapy efficiency. Also the theoretical and methodological principles, which underlie the research in these oppositional approaches, are discovered and the rules and procedures, where those principles actualize, are described. The article provides the critical analysis of the positivistic approach which is dominating in nowadays research. The model of psychotherapy perception is defined, based on research done by Russian methodologists of nonclassical science. Taking in account this model and also the results of long-term research of the affective disorders and the experience of psychotherapeutic practice with such disorders, the author offers a model of integrative psychotherapy of affective disorders as the base for developing principles and procedures for researching the process of psychotherapy and it's efficiency.
