Abstract

The article reviews professional activity of an outstanding ergonomist Gavriel Salvendy who now heads the department of industrial engineering in the leading Chinese university of Tsinghua. G. Salvendy has changes the corporative culture - form hierarchical to more open, insisted on reading and publishing in Western peer-reviewed journals. At the moment more than 1500 Chinese managers have cycled through the Tsinghua university training programs; programs based on that course were developed and implemented throughout China. Consultations by G. Salvendy and his colleagues gave Chinese manufacturers the opportunity to increase their productivity up to 20 % within few months.
