Abstract

Years will pass and historians of Russian psychology will be considering the end of the 20th century as a truly crucial period in its development. It was then, when the crisis in the Soviet ideology became so evident, that psychology in the USSR eventually acquired the sta¬tus of an independent science and was at last released from the humiliating role of the 'step child' of pedagogy.
