Religious Identity in Foreign Psychological Studies: Theoretical Models and Research Methods

Abstract

This article provides a detailed analysis of various foreign theoretical approaches and conceptions devoted to the study of religious identity. Religious identity is considered as a social psychological phenomenon of a particular structure, which differs in a number of ways from such similar concepts as religion, spirituality and religiosity. The article also presents and analyzes various scales that can be used to study religious identity within the framework of empirical research.
