Abstract

The paper explores some aspects of potential motherhood in young females that were brought up in orphanages. The aim of the study was to reveal the specifics of psychological readiness to enter motherhood in young female orphans. The research outcomes shed some light on the young females' attitudes towards their mothers and towards themselves as future mothers, on their value orientations and operational experience in motherhood, on their subjective readiness to become mothers as early as in adolescence. The study involved both orphan females and females living with fam- ilies from two Russian regions, Magadan oblast and Moscow.
