Society and Biopolitics: Reading Michel Foucault Review of the Book by M. Foucault “The Birth of Biopolitics: Lectures at the College de France, 1978—1979”. Nauka, St. Petersburg, 2010

This paper reviews the social heuristics of yet another book by the world renowned French philosopher M. Foucault. As Foucault puts it, one of the most important tasks of biopolitics is the problematization of all spheres of upbringing, culture and education through the capital economy; the individual is thus perceived as the investor. The review promotes the idea that education becomes an essential task for the community of psychologists, no matter who it is aimed at or what it is focused upon — power, business, or society, — and even if it raises the issues of significance and value of psychology and psychologists themselves.
