Social Psychological Determinants of Aggressive Road Behavior in Public Transport Drivers

2015

Abstract

The paper presents the results of the research on social psychological determinants of road accidents and on psychophysiological conditions and personality traits of public transport and school bus drivers in Voronezh Oblast. The research involved psychophysiological testing of 1737 drivers, of whom only one third were assessed as having optimal functional indicators. Lowered functional resources correspond with increased aggression in the drivers. The study revealed that among the causes of aggressive behavior in the drivers were non-acceptance of self, distrust of others, and perception of the world as of dangerous and incontrollable.
