Socialization Peculiarities of Minors from Disadvantaged Families

331

Abstract

The article provides data on socialization levels of risk group minors from socially disadvantaged families. 66 adolescents (studying in general-education schools in Arkhangelsk) have been examined, they are raised both in well-to-do and problem families. It has been established that the predominant type of a socially disadvantaged family is a conflict-ridden one. Teenagers raised in problem families are characterized by low level of their social identities (interpersonal and group-related) on the cognitive, affective and behavioral levels. They possess lowered adaptive abilities and are characterized by lack of harmony in decision-making due to constant failures in reaching their goals; such teenagers have distorted value orientations, they don't strive to maintain or preserve happy, problem-free and close relationships, they don’t contain or avert actions (or urges and tendencies towards actions) which could harm others or do not meet social expectations.
