Emotional Competence in Children of Primary School Age with Various Forms of Aggressive Behavior

The paper presents a study on emotional competence of children of primary school age with various forms of aggressive behavior. To characterize the different forms of aggressive behavior the goal orientation parameter was introduced and two experimental groups of aggressive children were formed in accordance with it: with high-and low- goal oriented behavior. In these two groups the significant differences in the aspects of emotional competence were demonstrated. The following differences between the children of the experimental and control groups were described: naming and recognition of emotions of different intensity, classification and differentiation of emotions by the modality and intensity, determining the intensity of emotions, recognizing emotions in a situation and acknowledging the emotions as experienced personally. The brief description of emotional competence in children with low / high level of aggression and low / high level of goal oriented behavior is presented.
