Abstract

The article presents findings of empirical research that studied content of collecting in young school and adolescent ages, peculiarities of school children's collecting process organization. Author's questionnaire was administered to the research sample: three school children age groups. Results allow distinguishing variants of main collecting manifestation components, draw conclusions about peculiarities of organization and dynamics of spontaneous collecting by children in different school ages. Young schoolchildren's collections are quite formal. Collecting reaches large-scale in younger adolescence. It becomes closer to characteristics of 'ideal' collecting as a quasi-research activity, than in other ages that were compared in this research. Collecting of older adolescents is often individual, private and is concealed from peers. According to its main characteristics it resembles young schoolchildren's collections. In most cases collecting in young school age and adolescence is auxiliary; it is a way to get included in communication with peers, and a way of expressing one's wishes, interests and ideas.
