The article introduces the expierence of qualitative analysis regarding the peculiarities in comprehension of the fiction image matter by junior schoolchildren. The analysis of a school student development is given according to the conception of the reading essence activity by M. M. Bakhtin. There was revealed a typical feature of junior school age children concerning the reading practice when entering school, that is the lack of notion of the author of a book, his or her conception and life position. Thoughin all other respects they show a rather wide variation of individial differences.
