Evaluation of individual psychological characteristics in the perception of morphed male faces

Abstract

We studied human perception of photos of morphed male face (en face). The models were created based on revealed relations between structural peculiarities of faces reflecting horizontal proportions of human face and degree of manifestation of euryprosopy/leptoprosopy of face on the one hand, and specific individual psychological characteristics, on the other. Photos of realistic male faces were morphed to match the created models, making four types total. System formation factors connected with the facial structural peculiarities and grouping specific individual psychological characteristics were determined. Correlations were revealed between the judgments about individual psychological characteristics in the process of face perception and individual psychological characteristics entangled with the structural peculiarities of faces grouped into system forming factors.
