Victimization and devictimization of students with disabilities in modern educational environment

Intensive latter-day transformation of the higher education system and modernization of its content leads to significant changes in vocational and educational conditions. On the one hand, these changes create new opportunities for students, but on the other hand, they can also result in the sense of confusion and cause significant damage to one’s psychological health thus contributing to the strengthening of victimity. The most vulnerable in this respect are the students with disabilities because the specificity of their psychophysical properties creates special socio-psychological conditions for their life and development. The aim of our study was to analyse the psychological aspects of victimization and devictimization of the disabled students. The article reviews the nature and mechanisms of students’ victimization in inclusion settings of universities and reveals the victimization risks within the ‘disabled student - educational environment’ system . The psychological foundations of student devictimization and organizational issues of psychological support of victimized disabled students in the educational settings are described as well.
