Models and methods for studying impairment social cognition in depression: theoretical approaches, methods of study and highlighted deficits

The importance of the violations in the interpersonal sphere and, in particular, in the field of social cognition in depression, is emphasized by different specialists: psychia¬trists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists. This article discusses approaches which are directly related to social cognition, and the number of non¬specific cognitive factors that hamper the social information processing in depression. Methods of social cognition studying are described. They are based on different theoretical con¬structions (mentalization, Theory of Mind, social intelligence, social skills, emotional intelligence, egocentrism etc.). And also we describe the results of empirical studies of disorders of social cognition in depression, a number of conclusions, outlining the prospects for further research are made. It is settled, that the cognitive aspects of disorders of social cognition are studied in a break with the data of the phenomenological observations and empirical researches regarding motivation for communication, self¬control and focus thinking on another person (intentionality).
