Perception Processes in Minor Isolated Groups

Abstract

The article focuses on the most relevant social psychological problems of minor isolated groups and on the isolation itself, considering it to be a multifaceted phenomenon related to features of interpersonal relationships developing within the minor group. The problem of perception processes are of special research interest. Thus the following issues as perceived by a member of the minor isolated group are described: perception of reality (of isolation, extreme living conditions, extreme environmental conditions); perception of the minor isolated group itself; self-perception in the surrounding reality. Features of perception processes referring to professional and emotional spheres, and specifics of self-perception of group members are revealed as well.
